Alter’s Gem Jewelry, located in Beaumont Texas is a three-generation, family owned business established in 1915. It thrives today on a foundation of determination, strength, and flexibility; the defining traits of its founder Morris L. Jacobs.
Today, Alter’s Gem Jewelry is lead by Brian Alter, the third generation of industry leadership and innovation.
Alter has a heart for children and relishes his role as a father. He has four grown children and says he and his wife of 37 years, Lori, are looking forward to being Grandparents this year! He says his favorite job of all time is being a dad. The stories of the Alter family's history distinguish the business, but the stories from everyday interactions with clients keep the company relevant and are what Alter says continues to make selling jewelry fun.
Keeping pace with the dynamic retail jewelry market, Alter’s now maintains a corporate show division, expanding its reach beyond the limits of Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. This division performs over 100 charitable fundraising shows benefitting hospitals and auxiliary organizations across the country like Children’s Miracle Network. Alter’s Gem Jewelry continues to thrive and looks forward to the future and passing on the traditions of excellence to the next generation of jewelers in the Alter family.
